I absolutely love the layered look and when it’s done well, can be a gorgeous work of art!!
I have so many clients that would love to create a layered look, but find it difficult to do or don’t know the rules.. to be honest, there really are no rules. Do what you feel is comfortable and have fun!
I personally only like working with a max of 3 colous at once, but that’s not a rule it’s just a preference! I love a mixture of textures, from tough leathers to delicate knits and shirts…. but the choice is up to you. So here’s a few images of layering inspiration for you, let me know what you think! enjoy x
I absolutely love Nicola Waite, she is a gorgeous Sydney based designer who caters for sizes 8-22 and it’s made in Australia. She does layered so well and I love working with her clothes!
This look below is perfect for Autumn/Winter and would look great as an alternative to your corporate suit and white shirt!
I love this next look, not for the office but for a great day out, or it could work for Casual Friday!
Unfortunately I don’t know what the labels is, as I’m sure this one is a combination of different brands, but I love this colour combination… Cream + black + charcoal and the combination of fabrics, from leather to a delicate knit! I would personally team this look back with a black leather bag and shoes, that’s just me!
I couldn’t help myself, I had to show these great images from Nicola Waite ….. I just love how she works with different colours, fabrics and prints. This way of dressing is definitely not for the faint hearted, it takes creativity, commitment and confidence to create and pull this look off, but I love it!! It screams confidence with a point of difference. I have a gorgeous General Manager I will be working with in a couple of weeks and her look is so unique, that she doesn’t want to wear a corporate suit to work, she wants layers and texture… I can’t wait to work with her and create some great strong looks for the workplace!
This next image, is more of a casual look to layering.. and works with only one colour!! This one being Black, but of course you can choose any shade you like and create a similar look!! But just remember to incorporate different fabrics and textures, that’s what makes it interesting!
