AUTUMN / WINTER FASHION 2016

What’s on trend for women, this Autumn / Winter?

Autumn is definitely on our door step, as the first drop of Autumn fashion has already hit the stores!! I KNOW!!
I’m still holding on to Summer, as I feel like I blinked and it’s gone!

It’s that time of year, where we’re not sure if it’s going to be a hot day, or a wet one.. but I want to share some trends to look out for, so your wardrobe can be ready for those cooler days!

GREY’S AND NEUTRALS  If you prefer NOT to wear black and prefer a more subtle look, then this is for you!

At the moment, there is a sea of grey and neutral tones in nearly every store… and it’s been used as a complete colour palette. Grey on grey or oatmeal and camel teamed back with white… the palette is very muted and easy to wear, with the use of different textures and fabrics giving it appeal.
Coats, big chunky knits,  fine laying tops teamed back with denim and tailored pants/skirts…..and no sign of black!!

I may actually even adopt this trend this season, as I’m drawn to the grey on grey look!!!

SPECIAL OCCASION STYLING

I need a Stylist for a Special occasion!

I have the absolute pleasure of working with clients on a weekly basis…from organising their wardrobes, to taking them shopping.

However, every now and then.. I have the added pleasure, of dressing someone for a special occasion.. Wedding’s, Mother of the bride/ or groom, formals, gala events and award nights.

In mid December of last year, I had one of my regular clients contact me to find that perfect outfit for her sons Christening.
We knew exactly the style of dress that would suit Carlie, however we really struggled to find the perfect dress in Australia. So I had the pleasure of sourcing her special dress from the United States and had it sent to my client just in time, for her son’s special day.

This is my gorgeous client Carlie and her two beautiful son’s, in her Mac Duggal dress, from the US….teamed back with nude and diamonte heels from Wanted Shoes.

Thank you Carlie, it’s always a pleasure to work with you… and I’m so thrilled, that I was able to get your special dress.
You looked absolutely gorgeous! x jade

CASUAL FRIDAY STYLE INSPIRATION

What should I wear to work, on Casual Friday?

I get allot of requests to teach my clients how to dress for Casual Friday, in the workplace!!

This subject is definitely dependent to your work place and the position you have. Obviously you have a higher role, such as a General Manager or CEO, I believe you should still wear very professional attire, with the option of a more relaxed feel. Keep in mind, that if you still have meetings with external clients, then you should definitely keep to your professional look!

However if you work in a more relaxed environment, then Casual Friday can definitely be incorporated in the work place.
Just keep in mind, Casual Friday is NOT an opportunity, to wear your latest ‘going out’ outfit!! You still want to keep a level of professionalism!

Here’s some examples of Casual Friday Style Inspiration outfits, for both Men and Women that have a more ‘Smart Casual’ feel to them.
If you feel you struggle to know what to wear to work on Casual Friday, please feel to share your questions below and I will share my reply’s. I would also love to see your ‘go to’ Casual Friday outfits!

MELBOURNE CUP FASHION | THE HISTORY OF FASHION

I love Melbourne Cup, not for the racing but for the Fashion of Course!!

I have had the pleasure of dressing many women and men for the day, however I also love the history of fashion worn in the past!!

Here a selection of images, that are historical in a right of their own…

This photo is from 1964. For the first time ever there was a generation of young people with money to spend looking for ways to express their new found sense of freedom through fashion. This young lady has a great sense of style – I love her high collar dress, the well made gloves with buttons, the hat and her natural make up.

MELBOURNE CUP FASHION

In 1965 Jean Shrimpton, the world’s highest-paid model, left Melbourne’s elite gasping in disbelief after witnessing her daring white dress cut 10cm above the knee to Derby Day. Leaving her thighs in clear view of the conservative crowds, Shrimpton later said when attending the Melbourne Cup dressed more conservatively: “I feel Melbourne isn’t ready for me yet.”

Then, as now, parading in one’s finery on the day is obviously nothing new. “The Lawn” would appear to be the place to be and the place to be seen. And what a marvelous snapshot of Edwardian summer fashions.  Taken at Flemington Racecourse on Melbourne Cup Day, circa 1906.

MELBOURNE CUP FASHION

And my all time favourite icon.. Audrey Hepburn with her dear friend, Baroness Marie-Hélène de Rothschild during the horse racing at Hippodrome de Longchamp in Paris (France), on June 20, 1966. I know it’s not at the Melbourne Cup, but she had to be included.

POLO IN THE CITY || FASHION

I am so thrilled to be attending LANDROVER POLO IN THE CITY  Sydney this year, as a VIP Media Guest.
Of course, the first thing that came to mind, is ‘What will I wear?’

Polo Fashion, is the ever so glamorous and chic sister to Racing Fashion and the approach of what to wear, should be the same.

FOR THE LADIES…
Think understated elegance, with delicate fabrics and styles.
Lace in ivory, cream or neutral colours, pops of colour and prints, and a touch of monochrome are some of the go to options.

Styles can include… soft tailored lines, playsuits, jumpsuits, long gorgeous printed maxi dresses, an easy shift dress, a boho inspired, off the shoulder top and maxi skirt and of course, lets not forget the pant of the season.. a gorgeous delicate culotte!
Polo Fashion, is all about comfort but that shouldn’t affect the glamour!

Shoes…
Polo is NOT the day, to be wearing your latest stiletto purchase. So please opt for a gorgeous glam sandal, comfortable wedge or chunky heel option.

Accessories…
Sunglasses and a decent size handbag is a MUST…Head wear is not paramount, however a wide brim hat will not only protect you from a day in the sun, but also add some glamour to your outfit! Please NO fascinators!
Jewellery should be complementary to your gorgeous day outfit. Thin delicate pieces, in gold or silver are a fashion must have at the moment. However if you’re drawn to more of a statement piece, then opt for it in either gorgeous silver, gold. stones or pops of colour and leave the sparkly diamonte statements pieces at home.

Hair and Makeup…
Hair and makeup should be kept natural, but a pop of lip can never go astray!

FOR THE MEN…
Just like the ladies, Polo Fashion for men should be approached in the same way! A smart casual look is essential, there is no need to suit up!
The Polo is an opportunity to show off a little more of your personality. Have fun with pops of colour, print on print and add a point of difference.

Styles can include… A coloured printed shirt, or pop of colour, tailored pant, chino pants or shorts are a great option. A blazer with a stylish pocket square, is always a great way to complete an outfit. But please keep in mind the weather, if it’s going to be too hot, a shirt is suffice.
There is no requirements to wear a tie, but if you prefer the look then go ahead. A bow tie could always be fun too!

Shoes…
Smart leather or suede brogues or loafers are a great choice, or a leather boat shoe. Please do not wear thongs!

Accessories…
Once again, sunglasses should be a must. And for the men wanting that added protection or style, a woven or felt fedora, is a great addition!

AUTUMN / WINTER FASHION 2015

Yes I know!! It’s already that time of the year and I think it has only hit me today… yes Summer is over and Winter is near!!

We’re in that ‘in between’ stage, of having some beautiful sunny days, with cooler mornings and evenings and we’ve started to struggle with what to wear… Well I know I am!! I’m still wanting to wear sandals (which I must admit, I would live in all year round if I could) but I’m starting to layer tops with fine knits and more warmer pants.

So the main questions on everyone’s lips is, ‘What’s in for Winter this year?’ So here it is, a little snippet to what’s on trend and what styles and colours to look out for… but remember what I ALWAYS SAY!! BE INSPIRED BY FASHION, BUT MAKE IT YOUR OWN!!

1. MONOCHROME | Yes I thought I would start with this, as it’s one of my fav looks all year round!!
We’re seeing it in a big way this season, with it being used in block options and of course prints, such as checks and stripes.
Think all shades of White, Black and Grey’s….from Causal to Evening Wear!

2. GREY’S AND NEUTRALS | If you prefer NOT to wear black and prefer a more subtle look, then this is for you!
At the moment, there is a sea of grey and neutral tones in nearly every store… and it’s been used as a complete colour palette. 3. THE TAILORED SUIT | The tailored suit is one of the biggest trends this season.. if you work in an office or not!! It’s also now an option for an after five outfit, special occasion, or just out to dinner. However this season, we are seeing it with a bit of a twist as well… yes it can be feminine and structured (as pictured below) but the Androgynous version is still strong too!! Think Men’s tailoring for Women! Longer line jackets, some pants are a little wider and take off your heels ladies, as this version is teamed back with brogues…

4. COLOUR | Last but not least… there is some colour this season!! I will admit, that there isn’t allot of it in store at the moment, but you will see it coming through as the cooler months arrive. I’m not a big colour person, as most of you will know… but I am happy with the gorgeous selection of colours that I’ll be working with this Winter season, with my clients and fashion showings…Wear them bold and proud, or pick a colour and team it back with black, grey, white etc

And remember… at the end of the day, fashion is all about having fun, creating your own sense of style and feeling confident!! x
