ROMANTIC RUFFLES

It’s all about feminine ruffles this Spring/Summer 2017 for us girls.  Ruffles are a great way to create a dramatic on trend look. You will love the fun and flirty ruffled collars, sleeves, hemlines and all over layers and layers of flouncy garments on offer this season.

Make your presence known with this girly and romantic trend. Ruffles create a playful eye catching feel adding glamour, movement and dimension to your look. At STYLED BY JADE, we love the revival of this 80s trend.

When pairing your frills keep it simple with clean cut pieces to keep your look elegant and balanced. We recommend when wearing ruffles keep your accessories to a minimum to avoid  overloading your outfit.

CORPORATE ATTIRE GUIDELINES WITH T.M.LEWIN

What should I wear to work?

I have the pleasure of working with so many amazing clients, from all walks of life.
However there is definitely an overwhelming increase of corporate clients, wanting to step up their game when it comes to their image and the way they present themselves.
The most asked question is, what is appropriate to wear to work?
If you work in a corporate environment, this seems to be a commonly asked question. We are finding that certain companies are becoming a little more lenient when it comes to dress code, but I believe that the way you present your self should still be high up on your priority list.
You’re a product of your business” Now I don’t mean, just people that own their own business… NO I mean YOU!! You are your business and how we present ourselves, is very important!

I had the pleasure of having a chat with the staff from T.M Lewin, a great label from the UK, with an increasing following in Australia… and came across a great style guide, for men and women in the corporate business sector.
This guide allows you to have a brief understanding of what’s safe to wear, when you feel a little out of your comfort zone!

PREPARING FOR POLO IN THE CITY SYDNEY 2016

polo-in-the-city

It’s that gorgeous time of the year again, where the well known prestigious event is only days away… POLO IN THE CITY SYDNEY 2016!

I am so thrilled to be attending LANDROVER POLO IN THE CITY  Sydney this year, as a VIP Media Guest again… and of course the first thing that came to mind, is ‘What will I wear?’

POLO FASHION, is the ever so glamorous and chic sister to Racing Fashion and the approach of what to wear, should be the same.

FOR THE LADIES…
Think understated elegance, with delicate fabrics and styles.
Lace in ivory, cream or neutral colours, pops of colour and prints, and a touch of monochrome are some of the go to options.

STYLES CAN INCLUDE… soft tailored lines, playsuits, jumpsuits, long gorgeous printed maxi dresses, an easy shift dress, a boho inspired, off the shoulder top and maxi skirt and of course, lets not forget the pant of the season.. a gorgeous delicate culotte!
Polo Fashion, is all about comfort but that shouldn’t affect the glamour!

SHOES…
Polo is NOT the day, to be wearing your latest stiletto purchase. So please opt for a gorgeous leather sandal, comfortable wedge or chunky heel option.

ACCESSORIES…
Sunglasses and a decent size handbag is a MUST…Head wear is not paramount, however a wide brim hat will not only protect you from a day in the sun, but also add some glamour to your outfit! Please NO fascinators!
Jewellery should be complementary to your gorgeous day outfit. Thin delicate pieces, in rose gold, gold or silver are a fashion must have at the moment. However if you’re drawn to more of a statement piece, then opt for it in either gorgeous silver, gold. stones or pops of colour and leave the sparkly diamonte statements pieces at home.

HAIR AND MAKEUP…
Hair and makeup should be kept natural, but a pop of lip colour can never go astray!

FOR THE MEN…
Just like the ladies, Polo Fashion for men should be approached in the same way! A smart casual look is essential, there is no need to suit up!
The Polo is an opportunity to show off a little more of your personality. Have fun with pops of colour, print on print and add a point of difference.

STYLES CAN INCLUDE… A coloured printed shirt, or pop of colour, tailored pant, chino pants or shorts are a great option. A blazer with a stylish pocket square, is always a great way to complete an outfit. But please keep in mind the weather, if it’s going to be too hot, a shirt is suffice.
There is no requirements to wear a tie, but if you prefer the look then go ahead. A bow tie could always be fun too!

SHOES…
Smart leather or suede brogues or loafers are a great choice, or a leather boat shoe. Please do not wear thongs!

ACCESSORIES…
Once again, sunglasses should be a must. And for the men wanting that added protection or style, a woven or felt fedora, is a great addition!

SHOE TRENDS FOR SPRING SUMMER 2016…

Shoe lovers rejoice…I’ve rounded up the some of the best Spring Summer 2016 shoe trends from the Fashion Week runways, just for you. From sneakers to block heels, slides, pointed flats and of course, sandals, it’s all here…

ON POINT
Embrace the flat of the season, the pointed flat!
The Spring/Summer shoe trends bring a bunch of flat looks for fans of comport and femininity combined. Pointed toe shoes are a flawless way to add sophistication to any outfit.
The perfect mix of comfort and style, a pointy toe flat is a great choice for a casual ensemble, work outfit or even for a night out.

SLIDES
Available in both closed in toe, or open toe.. This is an easy ‘go to’ shoe for Spring Summer. Team it back with a smart casual outfit, for a more conservative look, put your fav high heeled version with your party dress or wear a open toe pair on weekends with boyfriend jeans and your favourite white t-shirt… for the effortless chic look!

STREET SNEAKERS
Possibly the most common look on the runway for the Spring Summer, is the pair of laced up sneakers. Sneakers are here to stay, but who says they have to be plain white? Get excited with a colored trainer, leopard print or a metallic pair…. An easy way to add that sport lux feel to any outfit!!

GLADIATORS
The Roman-esque sandal is not going anywhere for spring, and this season, they are taking lengths to another level!
Team them back with a gorgeous boho inspired dress, or relaxed playsuit and you have the perfect Summer Sunset outfit!

BLOCK HEELS
Chunky block heels ruled the runway, which are not only on-trend but also comfortable…. The block heel, the ’90s favourite finally making a comeback and giving your summer sandals a little lift.
Whether worn to work with cropped trousers or bare-legged with a slinky slip dress, the style is incredibly chic. Plus, there’s the whole comfort factor these shoes might be high, but they’re a whole lot more sensible than your thin stilettos. Happy feet all round!

STYLE INSPIRATION FOR EXPECTING MUMS

Do I have to wear pregnancy clothes, when I’m expecting?

I am always approached by expecting mums, when their baby bump is showing… on what to wear and how they can incorporate every day clothing, in their new pregnancy casual wardrobe.

Gone are the days of having to only purchase clothing, from maternity stores.. Here’s some ‘everyday styling’ for mums to be!

Lycra is your best friend… team a basic Lycra black dress, with your fav denim jacket and add a pop of colour, for some fun!

Layer your distressed maternity jeans, with a great long ling Lycra singlet and light weight waterfall cardi..

THE TAILORED SUIT

What’s on trend for women, this Autumn / Winter?

Autumn is definitely on our door step, as the first drop of Autumn fashion has already hit the stores!! I KNOW!!
I’m still holding on to Summer, as I feel like I blinked and it’s gone!

It’s that time of year, where we’re not sure if it’s going to be a hot day, or a wet one.. but I want to share some trends to look out for, so your wardrobe can be ready for those cooler days!

THE TAILORED SUIT The tailored suit is one of the biggest trends this season.. if you work in an office or not!! It’s also an option for an after five outfit, special occasion, or just out to dinner. However this season, we are seeing it with a bit of a twist as well… yes it can be feminine and structured, but the Androgynous version is still just as strong!! Think Men’s tailoring for Women! Longer line jackets, slim ling pants and take off your heels ladies, as this version is teamed back with brogues…

AUTUMN / WINTER FASHION 2016

What’s on trend for women, this Autumn / Winter?

Autumn is definitely on our door step, as the first drop of Autumn fashion has already hit the stores!! I KNOW!!

GREY’S AND NEUTRALS  If you prefer NOT to wear black and prefer a more subtle look, then this is for you!

At the moment, there is a sea of grey and neutral tones in nearly every store… and it’s been used as a complete colour palette. Grey on grey or oatmeal and camel teamed back with white… the palette is very muted and easy to wear, with the use of different textures and fabrics giving it appeal.
Coats, big chunky knits,  fine laying tops teamed back with denim and tailored pants/skirts…..and no sign of black!!

I may actually even adopt this trend this season, as I’m drawn to the grey on grey look!!!

SPECIAL OCCASION STYLING

I need a Stylist for a Special occasion!

I have the absolute pleasure of working with clients on a weekly basis…from organising their wardrobes, to taking them shopping.

However, every now and then.. I have the added pleasure, of dressing someone for a special occasion.. Wedding’s, Mother of the bride/ or groom, formals, gala events and award nights.

In mid December of last year, I had one of my regular clients contact me to find that perfect outfit for her sons Christening.
We knew exactly the style of dress that would suit Carlie, however we really struggled to find the perfect dress in Australia. So I had the pleasure of sourcing her special dress from the United States and had it sent to my client just in time, for her son’s special day.

This is my gorgeous client Carlie and her two beautiful son’s, in her Mac Duggal dress, from the US….teamed back with nude and diamonte heels from Wanted Shoes.

Thank you Carlie, it’s always a pleasure to work with you… and I’m so thrilled, that I was able to get your special dress.
You looked absolutely gorgeous! x jade

CASUAL FRIDAY STYLE INSPIRATION

What should I wear to work, on Casual Friday?

I get allot of requests to teach my clients how to dress for Casual Friday, in the workplace!!

This subject is definitely dependent to your work place and the position you have. Obviously you have a higher role, such as a General Manager or CEO, I believe you should still wear very professional attire, with the option of a more relaxed feel. Keep in mind, that if you still have meetings with external clients, then you should definitely keep to your professional look!

However if you work in a more relaxed environment, then Casual Friday can definitely be incorporated in the work place.
Just keep in mind, Casual Friday is NOT an opportunity, to wear your latest ‘going out’ outfit!! You still want to keep a level of professionalism!

Here’s some examples of Casual Friday Style Inspiration outfits, for both Men and Women that have a more ‘Smart Casual’ feel to them.
If you feel you struggle to know what to wear to work on Casual Friday, please feel to share your questions below and I will share my reply’s. I would also love to see your ‘go to’ Casual Friday outfits!
