What’s on trend for women, this Autumn / Winter?
Autumn is definitely on our door step, as the first drop of Autumn fashion has already hit the stores!! I KNOW!!
I’m still holding on to Summer, as I feel like I blinked and it’s gone!
It’s that time of year, where we’re not sure if it’s going to be a hot day, or a wet one.. but I want to share some trends to look out for, so your wardrobe can be ready for those cooler days!
GREY’S AND NEUTRALS If you prefer NOT to wear black and prefer a more subtle look, then this is for you!
At the moment, there is a sea of grey and neutral tones in nearly every store… and it’s been used as a complete colour palette. Grey on grey or oatmeal and camel teamed back with white… the palette is very muted and easy to wear, with the use of different textures and fabrics giving it appeal.
Coats, big chunky knits, fine laying tops teamed back with denim and tailored pants/skirts…..and no sign of black!!
I may actually even adopt this trend this season, as I’m drawn to the grey on grey look!!!
Adding the must have piece, into your Winter wardrobe!
The wool coat is one of the most must have’s for Winter this season, for both men and women. And this classic style is not just for your corporate look, but a great piece to be teamed back in your casual wardrobe.
The colours to look out for this season are, black, light grey and camel. Make sure you select the colour that most compliment’s your current wardrobe colour palette.
The winter coat will take you to the office, Monday to Friday and for play on the weekend!
Team it back with your classic tee’s, favourite jeans and sneakers for a more relaxed look.. or add your latest leather boots for a more smarter casual feel!
What’s the latest lip trend for the season?
Let’s face it… dark lips are all the rage for this Autumn/Winter. Although this new take on the gothic classic is a bit more romantic, it’s still a beauty look with impact, which means you want to get the look right.
Out with the conventional colors, lips are dark shades of Bordeaux, plum and deepest black. In matte or iridescent, play it dramatic with a dark lip.
The best way to prepare your lips for wearing a dark color is to keep them in great shape, which means keeping them moisturized. A great lip balm is essential, but try to get one that’s not too glossy because if you use it as a base under the lip color, it’ll sheer the color out or cause it to slip past the lip line. Go for balms that are more matte, like Burt’s Bees Lip Balm. I use this balm a lot when using a dark lip colour, as the matt finish is perfect!
I personally love more of a merlot/cabernet purple based color on fair-to-medium skin. It gives a vintage, vampy, renaissance look. However, if your skin is more olive, go with more of a mahogany/terra cotta underlay to the color, like a deep burgundy. If you have very deep skin, I love the merlot color but try and mix in a very tiny amount of black or brown, to give the color depth and impact. It looks unbelievable on women with deep skin tones because their lips tend to be super dark, so by adding just a little black or dark brown you get a deeper look that helps their lips stand out more!
I started to play with dark shades last Winter and really loved the impact, however I also had Platinum blonde hair. So I will definitely have to see how the look goes this year, with my blue black hair…
Who’s already this new trend, or who will be adding this look to their go to look for Autumn Winter? x sbj
What should I wear to work, on Casual Friday?
I get allot of requests to teach my clients how to dress for Casual Friday, in the workplace!!
This subject is definitely dependent to your work place and the position you have. Obviously you have a higher role, such as a General Manager or CEO, I believe you should still wear very professional attire, with the option of a more relaxed feel. Keep in mind, that if you still have meetings with external clients, then you should definitely keep to your professional look!
However if you work in a more relaxed environment, then Casual Friday can definitely be incorporated in the work place.
Just keep in mind, Casual Friday is NOT an opportunity, to wear your latest ‘going out’ outfit!! You still want to keep a level of professionalism!
Here’s some examples of Casual Friday Style Inspiration outfits, for both Men and Women that have a more ‘Smart Casual’ feel to them.
